Tacoma’s Broadway Center 2011/12 season tickets on sale Thursday for members/multi-show

The Broadway Center for Performing Arts has announced the 2011/12 season for Tacoma’s downtown theaters, and tickets go on sale for members and multi-show packages 11 a.m. this Thursday. General public tickets go on sale July 15.

The new season offers over 30 events from rock, folk and Latin to comedy, theater, dance, film and family programs. Highlights include The Monkees (July) and iCarly star Miranda Cosgrove (August), Latin acts Deseo Carmin (February) and the Tito Puente Jr. Orchestra (March), comedians Margaret Cho (October) and Joan Rivers (November), comedy theater such as the Reduced Shakespeare Company (March) and the Seattle Comedy Competition (November) plus comedic drag dance troupe Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo (February) and an Audrey Hepburn film series. The locally-produced series of staged August Wilson readings continues.

Four main performing arts groups announce their new seasons, with plenty of new stuff promised

Four of Tacoma’s main performing arts groups – the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra, the Northwest Sinfonietta, Tacoma Opera and the Broadway Center for Performing Arts – have announced their 2010-2011 seasons, and there’s a refreshing array of new work on the cards. And for those wanting to buy subscription tickets, now’s the time to get good seats and deals.

West Coast Gospel Fest at Rialto this Saturday

 

The Rialto stage will be rocking with gospel this Saturday night, courtesy of the Broadway Center. The West Coast Gospel Fest will feature artists from around the country in a spiritual and musical event for all ages.

The Fest is a partnership with Frank Walton, 2007 Inductee Broadcasters Hall of Fame, 2009 Gospel Announcer of the Year and Gospel Music Workshop of America. Artists include Ami Rushes, Moses Tyson Jr., Angela “Missy” Billups, Bishop Sam Williams, Eric Carrington, Jimmy Hill, Terri McConnel, Elizabethtown Community Choir, Gail Fly, Shirley Bell, Chuck Anderson and more.
