Gig Harbor Art Walk

Check out art in the harbor at Gig Harbor’s first Saturday Art Walk, voted one of the five top Art Walks. Venues include Ebb Tide Gallery, Gallery Row, Kit Kuhn jewelry, Water’s Edge Gallery, Peacock Hill Gallery, Full Moon Art Gallery, the Gig Harbor BoatShop and the Harbor History Museum. 1-5 p.m. April 6. Wrist poetry reading

April is National Poetry Month, and to kick it off local poets Tammy Robacker and Maria Gudaitis are teaming up with new literary mag Wrist to produce the inaugural poetry issue, launching at Anthem Coffee with a free release party, reading and open mike event. The free, limited-edition magazine will this month feature over 40 local poets, many of whom will read their work. 7 p.m. tonight. Free. Songs of life and love at UPS

Soprano Dawn Padula and pianist Tanya Stambuk present an evening of European song about life, love and death: Composers from Alessandro Scarlatti to Henri Duparc, Richard Strauss and Ralph Vaughan Williams will set poetry by Rossetti, Baudelaire and more. 7:30 p.m. tonight. $12.50/$8.50/free for UPS students. Eric Carle comes to TAM

The famous children’s book author (“10 Rubber Ducks,” “The Very Hungry Caterpillar”) doesn’t just make art for kids. His “ArtArt” will be on view in a West Coast premiere at Tacoma Art Museum, along with a visit and book signing by the artist this weekend, and a giant mural painted by the artist on Tyvek specifically for the museum.
