Tacoma’s flamenco scene is getting hotter these days with regular gigs at The New Frontier, but Olympia’s warming up too. Next week sees a return visit to the Washington Center by world-renowned group Casa Patas Flamenco, plus a new monthly flamenco night at La Gitana Pizzeria on third Saturdays.

Recognized by Governor Christine Gregoire during their South Sound visit last year, Casa Patas hails from Madrid, and performs traditional Spanish flamenco with lead dancer Karen Lugo. Its Northwest tour, which also includes three nights at Seattle’s Benaroya Hall, is sponsored by the Honorary Consulate of Spain in Seattle.

8 p.m. Nov. 5. $16-$32/$21-$30. Washington Center for Performing Arts, 512 Washington St. SE, Olympia. 360-753-8586, washingtoncenter.org

A monthly flamenco night, organized by the Ianus Foundation, has also begun at Olympia’s La Gitana Pizzeria, featuring local performers from the Tacoma/Olympia area such as Marisela Fleites Lear. Audiences are also encouraged to participate. Third Saturdays. Free. 518 Capitol Way S., Olympia. 360-753-2929
