There’s a new all-youth theater company in town and it’s offering free memberships at an open house on June 30.

Tacoma Youth Theatre is having its event from 1 to 4 p.m. at the First Congregational Church School, 918 Division Ave., in Tacoma. Youth and parents can learn about the company’s mission, goals and structure.

Scott Campbell is the managing director and Maggie Knott is the artistic director. Campbell is the former managing artistic director of Tacoma Little Theatre and was at Lakewood Playhouse before that.

Here’s more from the announcement:

All youth (ages 5 – 18) attending the Open House will receive a free Tacoma Youth Theatre membership. Members save $50 off enrollment in any class, camp, or production for the entire calendar year, a membership card, a Tacoma Youth Theatre T-shirt, and a mention in every playbill. Free pizza, soda, face painting, and more fun activities are planned for the event – as well as tours of Tacoma Youth Theatre’s current home in the First Congregational Church School.

The Open House is being held at the First Congregational Church School at 918 Division Ave at the corner of ‘J” and Division in Tacoma. Park off the alley, behind the church and look for signs – it will be clearly marked. For more information call Tacoma Youth Theatre at 253-677-0531.

About Tacoma Youth Theatre:

Tacoma Youth Theatre is dedicated to creating high-quality theatre entirely produced by young artists. The company strives to build community by emphasizing core values of self-esteem, empathy, responsibility, collaboration, creativity, and adaptability. Tacoma Youth Theatre provides professional expectations, resources, and mentors that lead young people through the exploration of multiple theatrical disciplines. This process works best in a nurturing, respectful atmosphere where unique individuals, ages 5-18, can discover the impact, success, and joy of theatre for themselves. Tacoma Youth Theatre offers partial and full tuition scholarships to qualified young artists enrolled in audition-based programs.
