It has a new name but the chalk is the same. Chalk the Harbor returns to Gig Harbor on Saturday, July 21. Bring your knee pads.

Reflecting the town’s history the Gig Harbor Historic Waterfront Association is encouraging chalk artists to create images of the harbor, its fishing heritage or any other maritime theme.

Best of all: the chalk is free. Registration takes place on the day of the event from 10 a.m.–2 p.m. at two downtown locations: Anthony’s parking lot in the Finholm District and the Pioneer/Harborview intersection near the Fly Shop. The event runs until 3 p.m. Check the GHHWA website (above) or call 253-514-0071 for more info.

Coinciding withe Chalk the Harbor is the Peninsula Art League’s annual Summer Arts Festival. It’ll take place on Judson Street on both Saturday and Sunday.
