Black aviator history at the Washington State History Museum

“Black Wings,” new at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, explores the history of African American aviators past and present in a Smithsonian exhibit of stories, photographs and artifacts. “Artistry of Quilts” in Gig Harbor

Just opened, “The Artistry of Quilts” at the Harbor History Museum showcases both historic and contemporary examples of quilt art, including quilts by the Gig Harbor Quilters Guild and a talk by quilter Delaine Gately. Tango for flute and guitar at Antique Sandwich Co.

Duo Rubicund, comprised of Meredith Connie on guitar and Erica Coutsouridis on flute, will perform the complete duo “History of the Tango” by Argentine tango composer Astor Piazzolla this Sunday as part of the Classical Sundays series at the Antique Sandwich Company. 3 p.m. Oct. 23. Duane Hulbert gives piano recital for First Lutheran

Tacoma-based concert pianist and University of Puget Sound professor Duane Hulbert will give another recital on the 7-foot Steinway grand at First Lutheran Church Tacoma; the first recital raised enough funds to purchase the piano in July. This recital raises funds for the general congregation and previews a Nov. 4 recital at UPS; it includes works by Liszt, Schubert and Debussy. 1 p.m. Oct. 23. Entry by donation. 524 S.
