There’s a jazz student out there who’d be glad to learn. 88.5 KPLU radio is holding an instrument drive in support of Seattle JazzED, a non-profit that checks out instruments to students and provides jazz education and performances regardless of ability to pay.

KPLU also just won the Service to the Community Award for Radio from the National Association of Broadcasters Education Foundation (NABEF) for its School of Jazz project. The School of Jazz pairs jazz professionals with Western Washington public high school jazz bands in a mentorship program, culminating in a CD (the most recent, “KPLU School of Jazz vol. 7,” has just been released).
