“The Magic Flute” and free Flute-apalooza with Seattle Opera

In celebration of its production of Mozart’s “The Magic Flute,” which opens Saturday, Seattle Opera is hosting a free community Open House this Saturday, including live flute choir performances and opera arias in costume, a treasure hunt, games and a kazoo orchestra. 10 a.m., noon for guided tours (reserve online), 11:15 a.m.-noon for performances, 10 a.m.-1 p.m. other activities. Tacoma Concert Band’s “Fiesta”

The Tacoma Concert Band will end its current season with a concert of music from both sides of the border, including Gershwin’s “Porgy and Bess,” euphonium soloist Jason Gilliam playing “Harlequin” and more. 7:30 p.m. May 7. Museum of Glass Family Day

Dale Chihuly at Traver Gallery

New glass art by Dale Chihuly will be on view in a show opening this Saturday at Traver Gallery. The Tacoma-born, internationally-famous glass artist will show his new cylinder series (“Silvered Blanket,” “White Cylinder” and “Soft Cylinder”) as well as earlier work.
