Tacoma Symphony concerts now have a visual art element to them. Local painter Marie Le Davay began showing her post-impressionist-style paintings in the Pantages lobby during the TSO’s concert in December, and she’ll be doing the same this Sunday afternoon for “Electric Harp.”

A native of Paris, France, Le Davay has had a life of living in interesting places (Iran, England) thanks to family relocations and has pursued painting alongside her studies and work teaching sociology. Having studied from teachers such as J. Petgar and Marie Shayans, she paints landscapes and still lifes with a blurry, impressionistic eye that verges on early European abstract. Ever since she moved to Tacoma in 2000 she’s been in contact with the arts community, she says, including a friendship with Sinfonietta conductor Christophe Chagnard. Working with the executive directors of the TSO and the Broadway Center, Le Davay has arranged to show her art in the Pantages lobby for not only symphony concerts but upcoming opera and ballet shows as well. Usually she splits sales 50-50, she says, but for the TSO’s “Electric Harp” concert this Sunday featuring harpist Deborah Henson-Conant she’s giving all the proceeds to the TSO.

“Electric Harp” with the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra is at 2:30 p.m. Mar. 27. Tickets: $24-$77. Pantages Theater, 901 Broadway, Tacoma. 253-591-5894, www.broadwaycenter.org; 253-272-7264, www.tacomasymphony.org; www.marieledavay.com
