Organ concert for American Cancer Society

Jeff Orr, organist at Mason United Methodist Church, and cellist Stuart Hake will play a concert this weekend to honor cancer victims and survivors. St. Olaf Orchestra plays the Pantages

In a concert to benefit the Tacoma Youth Symphony, the St. Olaf Orchestra from Minnesota will play a concert this weekend at the Pantages. Known from the PBS show “St. Olaf Christmas Festival” and Garrison Keilor’s “Prairie Home Companion,” the orchestra will perform Mahler’s Symphony no. 1, plus Mozart and Barber. 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16. $19/$29/$42. ArtWalk: indie and dance film, and real dance

This month’s free Third Thursday ArtWalk in downtown Tacoma includes more than late-opening galleries and free museums. Happy 75^th, Tacoma Art Museum

TAM is turning 75, and to celebrate the museum is opening doors on Oct. 21 for just 75c entry until ArtWalk free entry at 5 p.m. Visitors can check out the new “Mighty Tacoma” exhibit of Tacoma photographs by regional artists, have their own portraits taken and added to the show, appear on a seven-minute video and create their own Tacoma postcard.
