Next Tuesday you can join glassblowers, hip hop artists and musicians for the Hilltop Arts Night Out at Jason Lee Middle School. The event is part of National Night Out, which encourages communities to make streets safer by being outside, getting to know their neighbors and celebrating together. The Hilltop event is organized by the Hilltop Artists in Residence, a 16-year-old non-profit which teaches glassblowing to students at Jason Lee. On display will be live glassblowing in the school’s Hot Shop, a chalk art contest, graffiti art and dancing from the Fab5 hip hop arts crew, and a potluck dinner.

The Hilltop Arts Night Out runs 4-8 p.m. Aug. 3 at Jason Lee Middle School, 602 N. Sprague St., Tacoma. It’s free. Information: 253-571-7670, www.hilltopartists.org
