Two Vaults gallery, a commercial art space in the Merlino Building in downtown Tacoma, is closing at the end of May, owner Paula Tutmarc-Johnson said in an email today.

“It has been a long and tough decision, but the economic climate has shown that,  there simply are not enough sales to continue,” said Johnson.

Two Vaults, located at 602 S. Fawcett Ave., Tacoma, near The Grand Cinema, has been in business for four years, showing and selling work by local artists such as painter Christopher Mathie and textile artist Ricky Bridges, as well as hosting artistic events for Dia de los Muertos and other celebrations.

The gallery will be open through the end of May, including ArtWalk on May 20, before closing its doors. The final show features encaustic artist Carla Dimitriou.

Gallery hours are noon-6 p.m. Tue-Thur, noon-8 p.m. Fri-Sat.253-759-6233,   www.twovaults.com
