Oscar nominated film and director to appear at Grand

The Grand Cinema opens “The Most Dangerous Man in America: Daniel Ellsberg and the Pentagon Papers,” Friday – a documentary on the publication of the Pentagon Papers. And of the directors of the recently Academy Award nominated film will be on hand to speak about it Saturday.

Rick Goldsmith, co-producer and co-director (along with Judith Ehrlich), will appear following the 4:45 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. screenings on Saturday. The nationally known documentary filmmakers’ films deal with the themes of personal risk, conscience, dissent and commitment to ideals.

Art meets fashion at RAGS

Wearable art gets its annual showcase this weekend at RAGS, a sale and show of locally-made art clothing and jewelry that also benefits the YWCA Pierce County’s domestic violence program.

A host of artists such as jewelry-makers Joan Joachims and Lisa Kinoshita and textile artist Mary Shemeta (above) will show unique pieces that run the gamut from affordable to luxury from March 12-14. The show is free, and all proceeds benefit the YWCA’s domestic violence prevention program – last year’s RAGS raised $80,000.

RAGS is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. March 12 and 13, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. March 14 at Larson
