Puyallup River Cleanup set for May 12

The fourth annual Puyallup River Cleanup, organized by the Tacoma chapter of Trout Unlimited, will be held May 12.

Volunteers are needed to help removed garbage and debris from 9 a.m.-noon that day. People who want to help should plan to meet at Johnny’s Bar & Grill, 1100 N. Meridian Ave., Puyallup, at the corner of River Road and Meridian next to Fred Meyer.

Instructions, gloves and garbage bags will be provided. The event will take place rain or shine, so dress for the weather.

Volunteers needed Saturday for Ohop project

Volunteers are needed Saturday to work with Northwest Trek Wildlife Park and its conservation partners on a long-term project to restore a 10,000-year-old marshland.

Northwest Trek, the South Sound Salmon Enhancement Group, the Nisqually Indian Tribe and Nisqually Land Trust are working together to restore the Ohop Valley Creek on the northwest border of Eatonville to its original meandering pathway. Volunteers will continue the data collection and wildlife monitoring survey of the restoration site.
