All wild chinook caught in the Tilton River must be released starting Monday

Starting Monday, anglers must release all wild chinook salmon they catch in the Tilton River.

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife just announced the change, which is in effect until further notice.

The rule covers the Tilton from its mouth to the West Fork. The state said all hatchery fall chinook being released into the river are now adipose fin clipped, allowing selective fishing rules to go into effect.

The daily limit is six fish, and up to two adult chinook may be retained.

Anglers must also release wild coho.
