Anglers can keep hatchery spring chinook on Lewis River starting Friday

The state has announced that anglers can again keep hatchery spring chinook on the Lewis River including the North Fork, beginning Friday.

The opening, which will run through July 31, inclides the mainstem Lewis from the mouth to the mouth of the East Fork and the North Fork Lewis from the mouth of the East Fork to the overhead powerlines below Merwin Dam.

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife is allowing anglers to keep hatchery springers because the hatchery’s brood stock goal has been met.
