Four salmon angling experts give presentation June 20

A quartet of fishing experts will give a presentation at the June 20 meeting of the South King County Puget Sound Anglers.

The presenters will be: Nelson Goodsell, talking about correct way to set up your spoons behind a flasher and how to fish them; Paul Marander, general manager of Outdoor Emporium, talking about jigging for salmon; Kelly Morrison, Silver Horde Tackle Company, talking about the colors of Lures, why they work and new products; and Tom Nelson, Salmon University, talking about plug fishing.

The meeting will be held at the IBEW Local 46 Hall, 19802 62nd Ave. S., Kent.

South Sound PSA chapter brings salmon derby to Olympia area

The South Sound Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers today announced it will hold its first South Sound Salmon Derby in Marine Area 13. The derby will be held Aug. 18, and will be part of the 2012 Northwest Salmon Derby Series.

The South Sound chapter has held derbies in Hood Canal for the last 11 years. This year, chapter members felt a South Sound Derby in the Olympia/Lacey area was long over due.

The derby will be held in the waters south of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge.

Noted angler Bill Herzog to be speaker at Oct. 19 Puget Sound Anglers meeting

Outdoor writer, fishing guide and broadcaster Bill Herzog will be the featured speaker at the Oct. 19 meeting of the South King County chapter of Puget Sound Anglers.

In addition to writing five fishing guides and numerous articles, Herzog is co-host of Northwest Wild Country on 950 KJR. The Tacoma resident also spent nearly 20 years as a guide on the Olympic Peninsula and Skagit River.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at IBEW Local 46 Hall, 19802 62nd Ave. S., Kent. The evening begins with hot dogs and chili at 6:15 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
