The park is located on the east side of Key Peninsula, at the head of Mayo Cove.

Clam, oyster season at Penrose Point State Park reopens March 1

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife just announced that sport clam and oyster season will reopen next month at Penrose Point State Park.

The sport clam and oyster fishing season at the Key Peninsula park will open March 1 and remain open until further notice.

Surveys by the agency show the clam and oyster populations will support a three-month fishery. The park tidelands were closed in 2010 due to overharvest in 2009.

The park is located on Carr Inlet.

Penrose Point clam and oyster season ends Monday

The sport clam and oyster fishing seasons at Penrose Point State Park will close Monday until further notice. The park is located in Pierce County on Carr Inlet.

The state Department of Fish and Wildlife said surveys show the shellfish population will not support a recreational season in 2010. The closure, in effect until further notice, is for all clams and oysters.
