Fishing report: River fishing shows signs of improving

Here are some highlights from the fishing report that will appear in Saturday’s Sports section.

As long as we don’t get a lot of rain, river conditions should be good this weekend, although they might be a bit high.

Rivers

Green: People are catching a mix of steelhead and cutthroat trout near Flaming Geyser State Park. People are reporting have success fishing with pink worms or eggs.

Humptulips: People are catching a mix of coho and steelhead, and an occasional late but still bright chinook.

Olympic Coast: The steelhead action has been improving. The Bogachiel has been a good spot

Work at Olympic National Park wilderness campground means trail closures at

Restoring the wilderness camp area at Lake Angeles will involve helicopter flights early this week, as well as a trail and trailhead closure at Heart O’the Hills in Olympic National Park.

The Lake Angeles-Heather Park Trailhead will be closed, along with the Lake Angeles and Heather Park trails. Hikers may still access Klahhane Ridge from the Switchback and Klahhane Ridge trails, but both the Lake Angeles and Heather Park trails will be closed between Klahhane Ridge and Heart O’the Hills, said a park news release.
