Hiker warning: Crevasses open up on Muir Snowfield

People planning to do the day hike to Camp Muir, or are headed there as they attempt to summit Mount Rainier, should take heed of a warning posted by park rangers.

Be advised that the crevasses on the Muir Snowfield are beginning to open up and pose a hazard to travelers on the snowfield. These crevasses open up every year as the snow melts off, and are deep enough to fall into, cause injury, or be unable to attract help from within.
