Supporters of the idea to turn Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument into a national park are holding a rally on Wednesday.
On what will be the 31st anniversary of the 1980 eruption, supporters of the concept will meet at the Johnston Ridge parking lotto express their support that the area will become a national park site.
In addition to local business owners and community members, Mark Plotkin (Cowlitz County Tourism Bureau), Mark Smith (Ecopark Resort), Sean Smith (National Parks Conservation Association) and others are expected to speak.
The rally will take place from 3-4 p.m., with the presentations at 3:30 pm.
The parking lot is on state Route 504 at the Johnston Ridge Visitor Center.
