From Mount Rainier National Park:

The fire in the Three Lakes area of the park has been contained and is
currently being monitored for any possible flare ups.

Record dry conditions are being experienced throughout the state and
visitors are reminded to be extremely vigilant on preventing any source of
ignition, as the fire danger continues to remain high.

Smoke and haze from ongoing wildfires outside the park is visible in some
areas of the park.

Laughingwater Creek Trail at Mount Rainier National Park has been temporarily closed because of possible dangerous wildlife encounters. The closure, announced this afternoon, will last until Sept. 19 or until further notice.

The closure is in efect from the trailhead at state Route 123 six miles to the ranger cabin at Three Lakes. The trail is in the park’s southeast corner.
