While the lure of playing in fresh snow might be hard to avoid, people planning to head to Mount Rainier National Park should check on road conditions before they leave home.

More than seven inches of new snow has accumulated at Paradise in the last 24 hours. There are now 155 inches of snow on the ground at the park’s most popular winter play area.

But with a winter storm warning in effect through Saturday morning, the road from Longmire to Paradise never opened.
