LoganFest VI adds Mother’s Day Run to May 10-12 event to raise money for two Puyallup children

The sixth annual LoganFest is May 10-12 in Puyallup and is expanding this year to include a Mother’s Day morning 5-kilometer fun run and walk.

Proceeds from LoganFest, which includes a 3-on-3 basketball tournament, go to the families of Carson Elementary third-grader Matthew Halliday-Smith and Ballou Junior High ninth grader Jacoby Miles.

Halliday-Smith is battling neuroblastoma, a form of cancer, and Miles was paralyzed in a gymnastics accident last year.

First fundraising run for paralyzed Puyallup gymnast Jacoby Miles set for Feb. 18 at Rogers High

Run for Jacoby, a new 5-kilometer race organizers hope will blossom into an annual event, will take place Feb. 18 at Rogers High School.

In November, Jacoby Miles, a talented 15-year-old gymnast from Puyallup, suffered a neck injury while dismounting the uneven bars. She was paralyzed from the chest down. All proceeds from the run her in her honor will be donated to her family.

Race organizer Rob Hester says he’s not sure if Jacoby will attend the race, but the course will run behind her house.
