North Cascades’ Kelly Bush wins regional ranger award

North Cascades National Park Ranger Kelly Bush is the winner of the 2010 Pacific West Region , The award honors outstanding national park rangers.

Bush has been a park ranger at North Cascades National Park since 1979 and the Wilderness District Ranger since 2002. She is known for her skilled leadership and consistent high standards for visitor service, said a news release announcing the award. This is the second time that she has received this prestigious award – the other being in 2000.

North Cascades ranger wins regional award

Kelly Bush, a wilderness district ranger at North Cascades National Park, has been named one of seven regional recipients of the Harry Yount Award.

The award, named after the first known park ranger, recognizes excellence in the field of “rangering.” The regional recipients are the finalists for the servicewide Yount award that will be presented in Washington, D.C., on June .

The regional winners receive a cash award of $1,250 and a custom-designed plaque containing a metal engraving of Harry Yount.
