North coast halibut fishery reopens Saturday for one day

Halibut anglers might want to pack up and head to the north coast this Saturday because the state is reopening the recreational halibut fishery for one more day.

With 26,776 pounds of quota remaining, the state Department of Fish and Wildlife said it will reopen marine areas 3 and 4 (La Push and Neah Bay) to halibut fishing on Saturday.

Though that is a lot of quota for this late in June, Heather Reed, the coastal policy coordinator, said in a news release there is not enough pounds left for a two day opening.
