Gig Harbor seeks public comment on Wilkinson Farm Park plan

The City of Gig Harbor Parks Commission will host an open house regarding a trail plan for Wilkinson Farm Park on Wednesday.

The open house will be at the beginning of the next commission meeting, from 5-6 p.m. at the Gig Harbor Civic Center, 3510 Grandview St., Gig Harbor.

The parks commission is taking public comment on a conceptual trail plan for the park. Elements of the preliminary plan include additional new trails, viewing platforms, footbridges and potential wetland restoration areas.

Fitness update: Local results from the triathlon and Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Beijing and Vegas

As promised in today’s fitness column, here are the results from some local athletes competing on the big stage.

IRONMAN 70.3 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
Henderson, Nev.

Heidi Hubler, a 37-year-old Bonney Lake resident and elementary school teacher, just finished her first appearance at the Ironman 70.3 (half Ironman) world championships in a time of 5 hours, 28 minutes, 7 seconds. She finished 40th in her age group and made up ground throughout the cycling and running legs. She was 49th after the swim and 44th after the bike portion.
