The state Department of Fish and Wildlife this afternoon announced it will open the Black River in Thurston County to trout and other game fish.
Fishing will be allowed from June 5 through Sept. 30. Anglers can fish the Black River from the mouth of Black Lake and all the tributaries west of Interstate 5, including Waddell Creek, Mima Creek, Dempsey Creek, Beaver Creek, Salmon Creek and Blooms Ditch.
A news release from the department said sufficient fishing opportunity exists for trout and other game fish in the Black River and tributaries to open the sections as identified. …
