Washington named most bike friendly state for sixth year in a row

For the sixth year in a row Washington tops the list of the nation’s most bike friendly states, the League of American Bicyclists announced this morning, the first day of National Bike Month.

“I’m proud that Washington state has again claimed the mantle of the most bicycle-friendly state in America,” Governor Jay Inslee, an avid cyclist, said in statement released by the league. “Here in Washington, we recognize a 21st-century transportation system not only includes roads, rail, airports, transit, and ferries, but also bike lanes, sidewalks and trails. Get ready for bike month Saturday at the Tacoma Bike Swap

Need a bike so you can get the most out of Bike Month? The Tacoma Bike Swap is scheduled for April 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the University of Puget Sound. Vendors and individuals plan to sell new and used bikes. The event includes beginner bike maintenance clinics.
