The body of a 58-year-old Kent man was discovered Thursday at Mount Rainier National Park, park officials announced Friday. The man had been missing since Wednesday and his wife reported him missing Thursday morning.

Rangers who responded determined the man committed suicide, the park said in a statement released Friday morning.

“At 2:30 p.m. Thursday … visitors at Mount Rainier National Park reported seeing a body lying near the Wonderland Trail north of Longmire, near the Rampart Ridge Trail,” the statement said. “Rangers responded and determined that the individual, a 58-year-old man, was deceased, and a victim of suicide.”

His body was transported to the Pierce County Medical Examiner on Thursday evening.
