South Sound Running to open new store in Puyallup by July 1

South Sound Running plans to open a new store in downtown Puyallup by July 1, owner Greg Klein said.

The store, located at 115 South Meridian, will be Puyallup’s only running specialty store.

Klein says the store is undergoing final renovations before opening its doors to the public. He says the store is similar in layout to the Tacoma store. South Sound Running also has a store in Olympia.

The store will be managed by Rick Bogatay, an Emerald Ridge High School graduate and 2011 Sound to Narrows champ.

The store is already sponsoring Puyallup races, including the June 22 Meeker Days 5K and new race that’s part of September’s Washington State Fair.

“If there’s a race in the community we want to be a part of it,” Klein said.

South Sound Running is the region’s oldest running specialty store. Klein and Joan Marchioro opened the Olympia store in 1998 and its Tacoma store in 2002.
