The State Department of Natural Resources has invited the public to attend volunteer events Saturday and Sunday in honor of National Volunteer Week.
Here is the schedule of projects:
Beverly Dunes Clean-Up near Ellensburg
Where: Beverly Dunes ORV Area
When: Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
What: Join Yakima Kittitas Forest Watch Group and DNR as they clean up Beverly Dunes.
Bring: Gloves, lunch, and water.
Directions: Start on state Route 243 at Beverly. Go East on Crab Creed Road for 2 miles.

Little Pend Oreille ORV Trail Clean-Up near Colville
Where: Little Pend Oreille ORV Trail
When: Saturday and Sunday, 9:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
What: Help clean up the Little Pend Oreille ORV area. Volunteer activities include clearing trails of blow-downs, limbs and other debris.
Bring: Gloves, hand saw, axe, appropriate riding gear, lunch, and water.
Directions: Start from Colville at the junction of U.S. Highway 395 and state Route 20 and drive 19.4 miles east on state Route 20. Turn left on gravel forest road and travel 0.06 miles to Radar Dome Trailhead.

Elbe ORV Trail Spring Clean-Up near Elbe
Where: Elbe ORV Trailhead
When: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
What: Join the Pacific Northwest Four Wheel Drive Association and the Elbe Focus Group for two days of spring cleaning at Elbe State Forest.
Bring: Gloves, boots (or sturdy shoes), clothing appropriate for the weather, food and water. If you have shovels, rakes or a pulaski, please bring them. Some tools will be provided as available.
Directions: Take state Route 706 6 miles east of Elbe. Turn left at 278th Avenue East. Follow signs for 2.5 miles to the Elbe ORV trailhead.

Nicholson Horse Trail Maintenance near Elbe
Where: Sahara Creek Campground in Elbe State Forest
When: Saturday, 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
What: This event is cosponsored by the Pierce County Backcountry Horsemen. All are welcome to come and help maintain horse trails.
Bring: Gloves, boots (or sturdy shoes), clothing appropriate for the weather, food and drinking water. Tools will be provided.
Directions: Take state Route 706 5 miles east from Elbe. Turn left at campground.
