Run for Jacoby, a new 5-kilometer race organizers hope will blossom into an annual event, will take place Feb. 18 at Rogers High School.

In November, Jacoby Miles, a talented 15-year-old gymnast from Puyallup, suffered a neck injury while dismounting the uneven bars. She was paralyzed from the chest down. All proceeds from the run her in her honor will be donated to her family.

Race organizer Rob Hester says he’s not sure if Jacoby will attend the race, but the course will run behind her house.

Only a dozen runners had registered for the race as of Feb. 7. “We need to get the word out,” Hester said.

The race is $25 for those signing up in advance and $30 for those signing up the morning of the race. The race begins at 9 a.m. at the Rogers High School Track.  For more information visit
