Fishing report: Plenty of good fishing to be had

Here are some early reports as I put together the fishing report for Saturday’s newspapers.

Skykomish: The river continues to produce good catches of chinook and summer-run steelhead. Try side drifting eggs, running your bait through the seams and soft edges of water.

Wynoochee: The fishing has been good for summer-run steelhead. The fish are a bit spooky, so stealth techniques are working best. Divers and prawns are working well.

North Sound: Point No Point, Jefferson Head and Mid Channel Bank all have been productive spots for chinook. Find the bait balls and troll a spoon or hoochie behind a dodger.

Clear (Pierce): The kokanee action remains pretty good. The fish seem to prefer hitting pink mini Wedding Rings tipped with bait.

Tapps: People are catching smallmouth bass, but there seems to be no consistent pattern or location. The best bet is to start by fishing plastics off the bottom. Water temperatures are still below normal summer levels.
