Starting Friday, visitors to Mount St. Helens will be able to drive to Windy Ridge, the closest point to the crater accessible by automobile.

Forest Road 99 open’s for the summer on Friday morning. The road also provides access to Spirit Lake, Meta Lake and hiking trails such as Norway Pass.

Forest Road 26 also opens Friday. The road accesses Norway Pass, Goat Mountain Trail and the Mount Margaret backcountry. The road has been repaired after portions were wiped out by flooding.

Also, a portion Obstruction Point Road in Olympic National Park also opens Friday. Snow as deep as six feet is preventing the road opening beyond Milepost 3.2.
