Beginning fly-casting class offered June 24

Wholesale Sports Outdoor Outfitters will hold a beginning fly casting class June 24.

“The Fundamentals of Fly Casting “class introduces students to the fundamentals of fly-casting. Each session combines instruction, demonstration and practice on local waters. It includes an introduction to equipment, the theory of casting, leaders and knots. In addition, there is instruction on rod assembly and care, stance, hook removal, as well as various casting techniques.

Instructors include Darrel Martin, certified by the Federation of Fly-Fishers and the Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors (United Kingdom) and Michael Martin.

Students should have: raingear, brimmed hat, protective eyewear, rod, reel, backing, line and 3X tippet. The store can help with any problems in setting up equipment, including rods, reels, and line at no extra charge. Students are encourage to bring lunch and drink.

The class will be from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The cost is $50, including a $30 deposit to reserve your spot. You can sign up at the Federal Way store’s customer service desk. For more information, call 253-835-4100.
