Washington couple misses bronze medal at curling world championships in Turkey

UPDATE: Brady and Cristin Clark of Lynnwood lost 12-7 to Austria this morning in the bronze medal match at the World Mixed Doubles Curling Championships in Turkey. The husband-wife team won the national championship to earn the right to represent the U.S. at worlds. Earlier today they beat China 8-2 in the quarterfinals and then lost 9-7 to Switerzland in the semifinals. Switzerland beat Sweden 7-6 to win gold.


A husband-wife team from Lynnwood is playing for the World Mixed Doubles Championship today in Turkey.

Brady and Cristin Clark and play China this morning in the quarterfinals with an opportunity to advance to the semifinals. The gold medal match is this evening.

The Couple is from the Seattle’s Granite Curling Club. Here is a statement released last night by club spokesman Tom Fitz Gerald:

USA’s husband-wife team of Brady Clark and Cristin Clark of Lynnwood, Wash., will take on China in the quarterfinals tomorrow of the 2012 World Mixed Doubles Championship in Erzurum, Turkey.

Team USA completed the round robin with a 7-4 loss to the Czech Republic’s team of Lukas Klima and Petra Vinsova this morning at the Milli Piyango Curling Hall. The Americans had already secured their quarterfinal berth prior to the start of today’s match. They finish the round robin with a 6-2 record and are currently ranked fifth for the quarterfinals. They will play China (7-1) at 8 a.m. Sunday. China’s Yansong Ji and Sijia Liu finished second in the Red Pool behind Canada (8-0).
