Fellow outdoor writer Craig Hill is on assignment at Paradise today and sent this image.

It should be a great weekend to go play at Mount Rainier National Park. The National Weather Service forecast calls for mostly sunny skies, with highs in the upper 30s through Monday.

Telemetry this morning puts the snowpack at 131 inches.

This morning, the park said traction tires were advised for the drive from Longmire to Paradise. All vehicles are required to carry snow chains.

  1. Craig Hill says:

Roads were in great shape this morning. Beautiful day but very windy. Spoke with Stefan Lofgren, head of the climbing program, who tried to hike to Camp Muir this morning. He turned back about halfway because of the wind.

  2. wendywitkoski says:

It was such a beautiful there today! We got tired of the wind at about 6200′ and headed back down with lots of great pictures.
