Park open, but road closed beyond the Nisqually entrance

Mount Rainier National Park is open, but the main road is closed beyond the Nisqually entrance.

Making matters worse, sections of state Route 7 and the Alder Lake cutoff are closed because of downed trees and power lines, according to a park employee’s Facebook page.

Of course, that’s assuming you can get out of your neighborhood. My street is still an ice- and snow-covered rutted mess. The only place I needed 4-wheel drive on my commute to work this morning.
