Here is a look at some events you might want to include in your plans, starting Sunday.

Caring for game

Seminar will cover the essentials of field care including field dressing and meat-cooling methods, how to deal with flies, keeping meat clean, taxidermy preparation, transportation and do-it-yourself cutting and wrapping; 1-1:50 p.m. Sunday; Archery Department, Cabela’s, 1600 Gateway Blvd. N.E., Lacey; free; 360-252-3500.

Astronomical treats
Tacoma Astronomical Society President Alice Few will give a program, “Astronomy Trick or Treat,” during the club’s public night event; night sky viewing if the weather cooperates; 7:30-11 p.m. Saturday; Olympic Building, Pierce College Fort Steilacoom Campus; tas-online.org.

Walk PLU campus
Members of Capitol Volkssport Club will do a 5k or 10k walk through Pacific Lutheran University; start at 10 a.m. Thursday at Walgreens, 12105 Pacific Ave., Parkland; people wanting to carpool should meet at 9:30 a.m. at the Martin Way Park&Ride

South Prairie Creek planting
Join the Pierce Stream Team to help plant more than 500 western red cedars and other species in the understory; effort is funded by the Mountaineers Foundation and Puyallup River Watershed Foundation; 9 a.m.-noon Saturday; to register, contact 253-845-9770 or piercecountycd.org/stvolunteer.html.
