The hiker who took a fatal fall near Snoqualmie Pass on Monday was from Puyallup, according to multiple sources. The 21-year-old was a University of Washington student who graduated from Emerald Ridge High School.

The man’s name has not yet been released by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office and an investigator said his name is not likely to be released until this afternoon.

The hiker fell about 100 feet to his death Monday morning on Kaleetan Peak, a rocky 6,259-foot peak just north of Snoqualmie Pass in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness.
