American Legion Post 171 will holding its 18th annual Fishing Derby April 30 on Mineral Lake. The derby coincides with the opening of the lowland lake trout fishing season.

The event will run from 12:01 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Fish must be weighed no later than 12:30 p.m.

The winners will be announced at 1 p.m. at the Legion Hall in Mineral.

Derby tickets are $2 each.

The legion also will be offering an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast for $5. Breakfast will be available from 7-11:30 a.m. Lunch will start at 11:30 a.m. and the menu include hamburgers, hot dogs, chili, chips, soda and coffee. Coupons for a $1 discount on a breakfast will be on fliers available at various locations in Mineral.

Anglers should note there is limited parking at the state boat launch. Vehicles and trailers must be parked off of the road inside of the white fog line. People not legally parked will be cited by the sheriff or State Patrol and could be towed as well. Overflow parking will be available at the Mineral Lake Event Center.
