Weight loss: 34 pounds in six weeks. Medrzycki declined to share his weight.
When Medrzycki tortures himself on the treadmill, burning off unwanted pounds, he looks to the exit sign above the door for motivation.
“I think I’m going to exit this body I don’t want to be a part of and I’m going to have a new one,” Medrzycki said.
Medrzycki has always been athletic. He wrestled in college and the Navy, and he went to the gym even as his weight climbed higher than he wanted.
“But I was going only halfheartedly,” he said. That changed when his doctor told him his weight was affecting his health. He signed up at Innovative Fitness in January and started in the Biggest Winner Fitness Challenge.
The weight is coming off quickly as he works out differently and has learned to eat properly. He hopes to run a half-marathon later this year and then a marathon. He wants to shed more than weight. He’d also like to drop his nicknames.
“I’ve been Big Mike or Big Dog for a long time,” Medrzycki said. “I just want to be Mike again.”
