The state Department of Fish and Wildlife just announced that sport clam and oyster season will reopen next month at Penrose Point State Park.

The sport clam and oyster fishing season at the Key Peninsula park will open March 1 and remain open until further notice.

Surveys by the agency show the clam and oyster populations will support a three-month fishery. The park tidelands were closed in 2010 due to overharvest in 2009.

The park is located on Carr Inlet.
