The Mount Rainier Committee of the Friends of NRA will be holding a poker tournament to raise funds for the various programs it supports.

The Texas Hold ‘em tournament will be held Friday at the Tacoma Sportsmen’s Club. The doors open at 4 p.m. and the tournament begins at 6 p.m.

There is a buy in of $100 per person, with a first place payout expected to be $2,000.

Proceeds from the event will be used to support firearm safety training, hunter education and the shooting sports. In January, more than $290,000 was granted to organizations such as state hunter education programs, junior shooting teams, Boy Scouts, VFWs, 4-H clubs, FFA clubs, JROTCs teams and American Legions.
