Tilton River reopens Thursday for night fishing

The state will again allow night fishing on the Tilton River, beginning Thursday.

Night fishing for all species will be allowed through Dec. 31. The change covers the river from the mouth to the West Fork.

In announcing the rule change, the State Department of Fish and Wildlife said recent heavy rains have helped with higher river flows and rapidly distributing salmon, “helping to promote and maintain an orderly fishery and no longer requiring a night fishery closure.”

Anglers are reminded they must release all wild coho.
