Hope you saw our recent post about Doug and Alycia Hill, a father-daughter triathlon team who both finished in the top five at  worlds last month.

Well they just got back from nationals in Tuscaloosa where they were trying to qualify for the 2011 world championships in Beijing. Only Doug earned an automatic qualifying spot. Here’s an e-mail I recently received from him:

back from Tuscaloosa with mixed results.  I took a 3rd in my age group and Alycia was running stride for stride with the girl who won their age group and with 2 miles to go suffered a heat stroke and spent the next 24 hours in the hospital.  Although this was the only automatic qualifier for Beijing next September, she could still get there based on her end of the year national ranking.  I suspect we will both be going one way or the other.  The season is done and it’s time for a week of rest and then start again.
