Officials at Mount Rainier National Park have announced a delay in the opening of the Paradise Picnic Area. Anyone who checks the webcams – facing east or facing west – will certainly understand why. There was 139 inches of snow on the ground as of this afternoon.

The new projected opening date for Paradise Picnic Area is June 25. The area was scheduled to open June 11.

That also is the same projected date for the opening of the Paradise Valley Road.
