The state Department of Fish and Wildlife this afternoon announced it will open the Black River in Thurston County to trout and other game fish.
Fishing will be allowed from June 5 through Sept. 30. Anglers can fish the Black River from the mouth of Black Lake and all the tributaries west of Interstate 5, including Waddell Creek, Mima Creek, Dempsey Creek, Beaver Creek, Salmon Creek and Blooms Ditch.
A news release from the department said sufficient fishing opportunity exists for trout and other game fish in the Black River and tributaries to open the sections as identified.
For trout, the daily limit is two fish, with a minimum size of 14 inches. Selective gear rules in effect. Using internal combustion motors is prohibited.
For other game fish, the statewide minimum size and daily limits apply. Selective gear rules in effect. Internal combustion motors prohibited.
