The state has announced the lower section of the Cascade River that has been closed will re-open to fishing for game fish starting Sunday.

The section that is reopening runs from the mouth upstream to Rockport-Cascade Road Bridge.

The state said it is reopening fishing because hatchery winter steelhead broodstock collection goals have been reached.

Anglers should check the sport fishing rules pamphlet Edition for a complete listing of fishing seasons and regulations.
